Nearly 500 Pounds Of This Pork Product Is Being Recalled For Undeclared Soy

Approximately 470 pounds of Pork Dynasty's fried pork skin foodstuffs is being recalled "due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen," according to the federal Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

The two products under scrutiny contains unprofessed soy, which is a common allergy for Americans:

  • Texarones' Born in the Philippines – Made in Texas Fried Out Pork Fat with Attached Skin Spicy: 3.5-ounce bags
  • Texarones' Born in the Philippines – Made in Texas Fried Pork Skin Spicy: 2.5-ounce bag

    The impacted pork products "were shipped to retail and restaurant locations in Texas," and have a "EST. 46015" printed "inside the USDA mark of inspection."

    So far, there aren't any "confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products."

    For anyone who discovers the misbranded items in their closets, FSIS urges you to toss them in the trash or return them to the retailer you bought them from.

    The issue was initially revealed "during routine FSIS in-plant verification activities when FSIS personnel observed that a seasoning containing soy, a known allergen, was being used as an ingredient and soy was not declared on the finished product label," the written statement detailed.
